The Climate Resilient Green Economy (CRGE) Forum discussed the 2nd Africa Climate Summit (ACS2)

The CRGE Forum convened last week at the Inter-Luxury International Hotel to discuss preparations for the 2nd Africa Climate Summit (ACS2), which Ethiopia will host from September 8-10, 2025, preceded by pre-summit events from September 5-7, 2025. H.E. Mr. Seyoum Mekonen, State Minister of the Ministry of Planning and Development (MoPD), briefed forum members on Ethiopia’s vision to position Africa as a global leader in climate solutions.

State Minister Seyoum emphasized the CRGE Forum’s vital role in Ethiopia’s climate action journey, highlighting how Africa’s practical climate initiatives, including Ethiopia’s impactful Green Legacy, can inspire continent-wide re-greening efforts. Members of the forum, comprising government institutions, embassies, UN Agencies, and international organizations, expressed their strong commitment to support Ethiopia in hosting an impactful ACS2.

 

Discussions also covered new Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the forum and mapping members’ initiatives to further strengthen Ethiopia’s climate actions.

The CRGE Forum was established in 2018 aiming at facilitating a coordinated climate actions in Ethiopia. The Forum is chaired by the Ministry of Planning and Development and co-chaired by Norway and British Embassies where the UNDP is serving as a secretariat.
